EDET (Week 2)

Hola a todos ustedes (bad spanish, right?)

Anyway...

My 2nd week in the EDET class only brought more interesting info I had never learned before. I learned about the 9 intelligences by Howard Gardner. I didn't know such an idea existed but it was quite the eye opener. I also learned about the theories of learning, some of which were by Piaget (someone I'm learning about in Psychology), Vigotsky (another person I'm learning about in Psychology) and others. (Piaget and Vigotsky were more notable to me since I had only started learning about them in...where? You guessed it, Psychology class.) I also did a power point presentation which was about the Concepts of Learning. My definition that I had to make for it wasn't great and the font wasn't quite visible, but it was pretty. I hope to do better next time.

The theories of learning is already a little tricky for me, and although I may understand them I don't think I can quite explain them without giving an example and as I remember an argument I once heard, it was said that an example is not really a meaning, only your understanding of what a word means, your understanding might not be another person's. I thought that was an interesting point and I really want to do really well on my exam (really), so I think giving examples would be out of the question.

As I study I hope I get a better understanding and do even better at what is given to me to accomplish.

EDET (Week 1)

Hi again all

My 1st week in Teacher Training was interesting. I still had goosebumps up until Friday. I've never taught before and my 1st class in Educational Technology was pretty informative. I expected to learn how to use 21st century devices to intrigue my future students into learning. But I learned that in education, technological devices are not the only methods used to get students interested and excited about learning. I also learned that educational technology is to make learning and teaching easier for both the teacher and the student.

I also learned that there are three styles of learning. I'm not saying I didn't know that before, but it seemed that I had forgotten until I was reintroduced to it in the EDET class. I personally think I am a mixture of the 3 but I'm more visual. If I see it, I can picture it in my head and understand a little better.

At the end of that last class I began to hope that I would be able to teach in a way that will would work for students no matter which learning style for them is dominant. Little info such as this is giving me insight into being a great teacher.

Welcome to my first ever blog.

Hello all!

Welcome to my first ever blog and it is about what I am learning about Technology and Education.

I am studying within the teacher training program and one of my assignments is to create an online blog for the EDET-seminar class. I am not a very good blog writer but here I go and here it is. I hope all who read will enjoy. =^.^=
